Size 3 is the small adult i-gel, for patients weighing 30 to 60 kg (65–130 lb). Instead of an inflatable cuff, the i-gel seals over the larynx with a soft, gel-like cuff shaped to the anatomy around it, so no cuff inflation is needed before use.
Its gastric channel accepts a nasogastric tube up to 12 FG, and the airway can serve as a conduit for fiberoptic-guided intubation with a tracheal tube up to 6.0 mm. Each i-gel is single-use, latex-free and PVC-free, and ships in a protective cradle that holds its shape until use. Intersurgical indicates the i-gel only for clinicians trained and experienced in airway management.
