The Size 4 i-gel is the medium adult airway, for patients from 50 to 90 kg (110–200 lb). Each device is printed with its size and weight range, and adult sizes carry a position guide line that helps confirm the correct insertion depth at a glance.
An integral bite block lowers the risk of the patient occluding the airway channel, and a buccal cavity stabilizer aids insertion and keeps the device from rotating. The Size 4 passes gastric tubes up to 12 FG and, under fiberoptic guidance, tracheal tubes up to 7.0 mm. Before insertion, Intersurgical calls for a thin layer of water-based lubricant on the cuff. Reserved for providers with airway management training.
