Pulse oximetry on small fingers works best with a sensor sized for them. The SH5 is Edan’s reusable pediatric soft-tip sensor, labeled for patients from 10 to 50 kg. It is not an infant sensor. Edan makes separate sensors for infants and neonates.
Like Edan’s other DB9 sensors, the SH5 needs an Edan SpO2 extension cable between sensor and monitor, so check which cable your model takes before you order. Pediatric sedation dentistry and pediatric medical practices can pair it with the E7 child cuff to monitor young patients with correctly sized equipment throughout a procedure.
